The first step towards getting contacts is visiting our eye doctors at Eye Zone Inc. in Cleveland for a comprehensive eye exam to get an update on your eye health and prescription. This information will help our eye care team determine if you’re a good candidate for contacts. If so, we’ll schedule a contact lens exam and fitting to see what kind of contacts would be best for you. Here’s what you can expect from a contact lens fitting.

Discuss Contact Lens Options

Contact lenses are not “one size fits all.” They come in diverse types and sizes to suit your visual needs. Most people can wear standard soft contacts. If you have an eye condition like dry eye, astigmatism, keratoconus, or presbyopia, you may need specialty lenses to correct your vision. During a contact lens fitting, your Cleveland eye doctor will discuss your options, explain the pros and cons of each and help you choose the contacts best suited for your needs.

Taking Eye Measurements

During a contact lens fitting, our eye care specialists will measure your eyes for contact lens size. We’ll measure the curvature of the cornea of your eye as well as the pupil and iris. We’ll also evaluate the tear film of your eyes to ensure your eyes produce sufficient tears to keep them moist enough to wear contacts comfortably.

Once we’ve determined the right type of contacts and the right size, we’ll order a trial pair to see how they fit. If you’re comfortable with the trial pair and they suit your visual needs, our eye doctors will fill your contact lens prescription. By working closely with us, you can trust that you’re obtaining the best contacts for your lifestyle and getting the most from your investment.
